Week 12 of 14
Malachi to the Gospels
Days 78 to 84: Zechariah 5 to John 1, 83 chapters.
The Old Testament closes with Zechariah's visions of a coming king and Malachi's promise of a messenger to prepare the way. Then Matthew opens with a family tree that runs back through David to Abraham, picking up the promises from weeks 1 and 4. You read three Gospels this week. Matthew gathers Jesus' teaching into long sermons. Mark moves fast. Luke gives the birth story and parables found nowhere else, and day 83 (Luke 2 to 13) is the longest reading of the hundred. The week ends at the start of John.
Watch for how Matthew starts with David and Abraham.
The Word became flesh and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the only born Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.John 1:14
